SHIPS LOG: WHERE ARE WE NOW?????
March 31, 2007: Saturday
We arrived here in
Marina Del Rey around 5:00 PM yesterday. After we rounded Pt. Conception we had
smooth seas and a near full moon which had an incredible shimmering grey light.
When the sun came up it was a huge sun with a red orange backdrop. Now this is
why we went cruising!! It took the rest of the day to get to to Del Rey Marina
where we were graciously routed by our cruising friends that Linda and Denise
went with from New Zealand to the Cook Islands with. Scott and Jean are here
waiting to go back to New Zealand to continue cruising the South Pacific in a
couple months. They bought another boat (power boat!) to live on here at Del Rey
Yacht Club when they are in the states between cruising seasons.
Today we spent the day CLEANING
Rapture off of all the past 4 years of Oregon green off her. We also worked on
the spinnaker pole cutting 4 feet off the end. SUN SUN SUN , just what I
ordered. And yes I got a sunburn already...and proud of it!
We are going to leave for San Diego
tomorrow around 5 or 6 PM. It will take us about 14 hours to get there, so
should be in SD around 8AM Monday morning. Will be meeting with a rep from H&S
yachts to talk over a possible steering issue and then off for Ensenada, Mexico.
BUT we will try to get our Mexican Yacht permit for fishing and those famous
home made Tortillas we rave about in SD.
MARCH 19, 2007: Wednesday
Here we sit in
Eureka, CA. The weather window closed out on us for making it all the way to Los
Angeles as an unusual gale is expected to hit this week in Southern
California...the reason...LINDA... "the weather disturbance"!!!

We will spend most of this week
organizing all the STUFF we crammed below so we have room to walk or sit in our
cabin!
This is what we did for two weeks
trying to figure out places to put everything...

At last we CAN walk around now but geesh...where
am I going to put all the dive gear!?!?!?
Thought I'd throw this picture in of one of
my salty crew who either was looking for a way out off our boat or was he
stowing extra 50lbs of anchor chain below....
Alias: Jim Weir
Then there was a bag lady we picked up on
the way as she really had a lot of goodies in her cart!!!
