MONTEREY, CA:

crew a

We left Eureka headed for Marina Del Rey. The weather started deteriorating again as we were off Monterey. We decided to pull in there and wait as good cruisers do...for the WX to pass. The harbor entrance is REALLY tight. Especially when watching the commercial fishing vessels tear thru here.

So I (Dennis) decided to rent a car and give our motley crew a tour of the town I lived in for about 7 years. I used to teach SCUBA diving and managed Aquarius Dive Shop here. After receiving my Doctorate of Chiropractic I opened an office in Monterey for two years before selling it and moving to Oregon, We also had our diving regulators rebuilt for the harsh and continual use they'll get while we are cruising down south. While we were there the winds picked up to 53 MPH and 15-18' seas...glad we called that WX stop right!

During our stay we enjoyed the internet service at the marina via a hot spot at the local Irish Pub.

Monterey is totally into tourism with quaint shops, hotels and restaurants. Much like Newport... where we used to live :-)

And don't let us forget Dennis's most important eatery...LuLu's Restaurant for breakfast any time of day!
