MAGDALENA BAY:

Then onto Magdalena Bay  where we anchored 3 miles on the inside of the north bay entrance. We did not have the luxury of time of getting to explore as planned due the weather that kept staying with us. However, we were met by some friendly fisherman in their little panga’s. They had just come back in from fishing for octopus. They wanted to know if we wanted some. Their entire mid section of the panga which was about 6+ feet wide by 5 feet fore and aft with a depth of 4 feet was full of tentacles to the brim!

(We borrowed the pics from Dashew's Setsail.com site as we didn't even think to take pictures?!?!)

It was odd an odd feeling as we were the only boat in the middle of nowhere excepting an old Mexican shrimp boat who was anchored about 1/2 mile from us. Then as the smaller co-operative pangas raced by us to check us out in an area where no English is spoken, made me feel a bit vulnerable. And to top that off this area truly is very remote, it has taken us days to get here with hardly another boat seen. One must be able, self reliant and have either a certain amount of courage to live and travel like this...or be out of their minds!!! But to us it is worth it so far.
