CABO SAN LUCAS

As we were making it around the tip of Cabo,
it was like a step of an airplane that just landed in a tropical port. After
being cold and wearing fleece the entire way down the outside off Baja, we were
wondering if we'd ever get warm. Bang!..sun came out, water temp soared up and
we were here...the tropics!
Not really caring for the high prices of
Cabo and the rolly anchorages we headed for Cabo Del San Jose, a reported new
marina half way between the eastern and western side of the tip of Baja.
We
arrived in San Jose del Cabo (not to be confused with Cabo San Lucas)
unfortunately we had to anchor as we could not find the new marina even after
twice going right into the openings of two jetties! We were sitting right on
the lat/long from both cruising books with pictures and no marina just a
construction site….hmmmm. They claim it has 500 slips, a fuel dock and
restaurant and opened 2006; we were both a little baffled. In any event, we
arrived here this morning from Magdalena Bay, exhausted. We found an anchorage
that is rolly a bit west of the supposed marina. However, we were lucky enough
to pick up internet service off the hill beside us.
The
catch...this is a satellite photo of the marina which made us feel less loco en
cabesa...they hadn't cut through to the sea yet, so we couldn't have made it in
there without a dredge!!! So much for cruising guides!

This is the anchorage we ended up staying at
(4 miles back west) before heading across towards Puerto Vallarta
